OnStar Developer Challenge Final

OnStar launched the 2011 Student Developer Challenge reaching out to students enrolled at select universities that specialize in creative problem-solving in technology and business. The students were challenged to try their hands at designing the next OnStar voice application that will keep drivers safely connected on the road.

Students from Carnegie Mellon, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, University of Michigan, University of Texas and University of Toledo created their entries using OnStar’s unique data model and the QuickFuse Voice Application building platform. Submitted voice applications should provide solutions in one or more of the following ways: responsible connectivity, informed driving or location.

The first round of judging took place in March, narrowing the finalists down to the top six who will present to a prestigious panel of judges following the Exhibit Hall reception on Wednesday evening. Judges will consider each entry based on safety and minimal distraction, originality, integration, user experience and reach. The winner of the Grand Prize (individual or team) will be announced following the Exhibit Hall reception and will receive the Developer Dream Package valued at $10,000.
