There has been an explosion of apps using location across all smartphones in the past couple of years. New business models are emerging spearheaded by companies like FourSquare and Shopkick. Now we are seeing most popular apps integrating geosocial features in some way to increase the popularity of their apps and loyalty among their users. This session is a roundup of the trends we saw in the past year and examples of apps using location in cool new ways. Skyhook will also present results of their app surveys which investigate how app developers plan to use location in the future.
Ted Morgan co-founded Skyhook in 2003 to capitalize on the increasing demand for location-based services. Prior to founding Skyhook, Mr. Morgan was the VP of Marketing for edocs Inc., a provider of customer self-service solutions that was sold to Siebel Systems in January 2005 and worked in Product Management for Open Market, one of the early leaders of the e-commerce revolution. Prior to the technology industry, he spent four years in financial services. Mr. Morgan holds an undergraduate degree in mathematics from Georgetown University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
