Winner of the LaunchPad competition at Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, PhoneGap is an open source initiative for bringing native device capabilities to mobile browsers. With PhoneGap, you can author location-aware and mapping apps in HTML and JavaScript and still take advantage of native mobile device capabilities like geo location, camera, vibration, local storage and sound.

In this session, you’ll learn how to use PhoneGap to easily build apps for iPhone, Android, Pre and Blackberry.

The tutorial will cover:

  • An overview of mobile web opportunities and platform landscape
  • Getting started building location-aware and mapping applications for iPhone and Android with PhoneGap
  • Overcoming barriers to cross-device development
  • Differences in capabilities across devices
  • Mobile web development with XUI
  • Mobile web development with Dashcode
  • Contributing back to the PhoneGap project
  • A complete ‘how to’ on getting certified and selling your applications in the app store, including provisioning, and more.

Join us to learn how to use your HTML, CSS and JavaScript skills to build innovative, device-neutral mobile apps.
