As someone who has rented numerous apartments, I’d like to give some advice for people who are new to this and maybe I can help them avoid some of the puddles that are along the way in this endeavor. When you are looking for an apartment to live in, you need to keep many things in mind. I think the most important thing you should look for in a space for rent is proximity to work or school. If you do this, you might have to spend a little more money than you would at an apartment that is further out, but you will also save a lot of money on gas. The cost of living will even out in this instance, but you will find that the increase in convenience will be well worth it. The second thing you should look for is the friendliness and customer service abilities of the landlord and staff that you will be renting from. If you live in the Columbus area, you will find few better places than Short North apartments in this matter. The landlord at this location is very used to guiding new renters through all the paperwork and processes of getting into a space to call your own. The maintenance staff is also very responsive, so any issues you might run into will be taken care of in a very timely manner.
When you do finally find a place that you think you would like to live in, it’s very important that you inspect your new apartment for repairs that it might need. You should take pictures of anything that you think needs work and take detailed documentation of these items. When I lived at Downtown Columbus apartments, I was surprised to find that my apartment did not need any repairs. It was just fine as it was, and looked brand new. The staff there was also very friendly and responsive, and I know that if I did have any issues that they would be quick to handle all my cases. Another apartment that I would highly recommend you check out is OSU apartments. These units are very close to campus and thus you will be able to easily visit all your dorm friends. It is almost as if it has all of the advantages of a dormitory but without all the problems that are inherent with such a living situation.
Overall, I must advice that you take a long time to think about where you really want to live. Although I do recommend that proximity be the prime factor in your decision making, you need to realize that this is simply my preference. I might be inclined to overlook some faults with an apartment that you might not be able to see past, simply because location is so important to me. Perhaps floor plans and style is more important to you, and that is perfectly fine. In any case, I wish anyone who is looking for an apartment the best of luck in finding the perfect space to fit their needs.
