Blair Swedeen
VP, Market Development, Placecast

Blair is responsible for Placecast’s strategy and business development activities, driving relationships with mobile operators, handset makers, media companies, mobile app publishers, telecom infrastructure providers and local search companies.

Prior to joining Placecast, Blair founded Partenza Consulting, a strategy and business development consultancy advising leading players and investors in the Location-Based Services industry. Blair also spent three years at NAVTEQ, the leading digital map content company now owned by Nokia, where he had overall responsibility for the mobile product line, worked closely with Nokia on the development of their first three GPS handsets, and launched new content products now featured on several hundred million devices. Before joining NAVTEQ, Blair was a Director and Quantitative Analyst at UBS Global Asset Management where he led development and operations for the firm’s global equity valuation platform and supported development and launch of the firm’s first long-short global equity hedge fund.

Blair has more than ten years of experience across business development, strategy and product management in mobile media, location-based services, applications and data . He is a regularly featured speaker and columnist who also serves on the advisory board for the Silicon Valley Association of Startup Entrepreneurs (SVASE).

Blair holds an MBA from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.
