Dr. Phil Hendrix is the founder and director of immr (www.immr.org) and an analyst with GigaOM Pro (http://pro.gigaom.com). In much of his work, Dr. Hendrix focuses on markets for “very new products,” particularly innovative new Mobile platforms, devices, and services. He has published reports on location-based innovation (Feb. 2010), speech recognition, Google’s mobile strategies, mobile internet devices, and other topics. Dr. Hendrix has worked with many of the leading companies in mobile, including AT&T, Verizon, Sony Ericsson, Sprint, Lenovo, and others. He specializes in studying how consumers adopt products that are new-to-market, identifying hurdles that slow market acceptance, and competitive strategies that unleash demand. Before founding immr, Phil was a partner with DiamondCluster (strategy and technology consultancy), founder and head of IMS (Integrated Measurement Systems), and a principal with Mercer Management Consulting. He has held faculty and research positions at Emory University and the University of Michigan, teaching courses in research design and analysis, buyer behavior, and strategy, and the Survey Research Center at U of M. After receiving his PhD from the University of Michigan, Dr. Hendrix completed post-doctoral studies in applied statistics and mathematical psychology.
