As geo-location tools like Google Latitude and map-creation programs like Google Map Maker become more prevalent on desktop and mobile devices, people are no longer just consumers of location information. Rather, they have the opportunity to become local mapping experts, contributing information about places and about themselves that make online maps better for everyone.
Steve Lee, Senior Product Manager, has been working on Google’s mobile Geo efforts for nearly 3 years. He currently has global responsibility for all Google geo-related mobile products, which include Google Maps, Google Latitude, and Google’s location service platform. He has 14 years industry experience, ranging from entrepreneurship to software development to product management. Before coming to Google, he worked at IBM, Yahoo, and 2 startup endeavors, NewMonics and Verdada. He has an MBA from UC Berkeley Haas and a double major in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from Iowa State University. He has been known to play poker and enjoys cycling, traveling, and reading.
Lior Ron, Senior Product Manager, is currently the lead for Google’s global user generated content and Geo Web efforts including My Maps, Google Map Maker, Geo search and others. He has spent the last 12 years innovating in the geo industry where he was the CTO of the Israeli Intelligence mapping and search efforts, product manager at Yahoo, founder of a geo search startup and in the last 2 years part of the Google geo leadership team. He holds an MBA from Stanford GSB, BSc and MS from the Technion - the Israeli institute for technology. He’s also an amateur space traveler (in the future) and launched Google Sky and other space related efforts while in Google.
