I have done a bit of traveling in my early adult life, but I have never been to South America. Africa, Asia, Central America, and Europe are all places that I have visited and that I love. There are always more things to see that I haven’t seen and done, and I could go back to each country I have visited and do more things, but the one thing that I have yet to do and have always wanted to do it go trekking in Machu Picchu. There are always other trips that come up that are cheaper or closer, and so the Peru trip just gets pushed back and doesn’t seem available or possible. But trekking the Inca Trail to see Machu Picchu is definitely something that I want to be able to do in my lifetime. There is just nothing else that makes my heart light up like thinking about how that trip would be, hiking in the clouds and seeing such an incredible site up there in the sky. There are some easy ways that I could prepare for the trip, since I already live a mile above sea level, but altitude sickness would definitely be something that I would want to try to avoid if I were to make the trip. I could take lots of high elevation practice trips to get my body ready for the trip, but trekking to Machu Picchu would definitely be worth it, in every way. I think it will be the next trip that I plan to take, and I’ll start saving for it now.
